Apparently there's been a lot of hype about the socalled Two-Buck-Chuck from Trader Joe's. In reality, this is just a publicity scam to increase sales of undrinkable Californian wine. I would never claim I am an expert. Nevertheless I did grow up in one of the least known viticultural regions of the world; northern Baja California in Mexico which now produces respectable wines. I also lived 14 years in Europe and all I would say is that I know exactly what I like when it comes to vinum bonum (good wine). I totally am in agreement with the gentleman who gave us his honest and valuable opinion about this product. At the end of the day you must ask yourself a few basic questions about any wine you try. Did you enjoy it? Did it smell clean and honest? After drinking it, did you get any unwanted side-effects such as headaches and a dull feeling? Some wines will enlighten you, bad ones will suppress you outright! The Two-Buck-Chuck is a scam. It gave me headaches. It has been manipulated to give you a pleasant effect when you swish it around in your mouth, yet you will definitely pay the consequences of having drunk cheap wine the next day. When I shop at TJ's, I stick to French wines, especially those labelled "Vin de Pays d'Oc." Winemakers there know what they are doing and have a 2000 year history of sticking to what works. Visca Languedoc!
