Combat Swords Spreadsheet
RC 4
By: Valar and Chalon, Rogues of Eternal Reign, Lightbringer
Thanks to: Rogues of ER, Kalman, Pf, Wodin, and the EJ forums
Description
This spreadsheet simulates the theoretical DPS output of Combat Swords in a raid setting, based on the inputs of gear, enchant, and buff choices.
It must be noted that theoretical DPS output and actual DPS output will vary for many reasons, often dependant on the fight in question.
The DPS output is what would happen over a long duration in a fight where you can consistently and indefinitely attack from behind.
The main goal of this spreadsheet is to be a tool to help see how various gear choices will affect your overall DPS.
Compatibility
This spreadsheet has been tested to both work in recent versions of Excel and OpenOffice. Older versions and/or other packages may or may not work.
Instructions
We've made it a goal to setup the spreadsheet in an easy-to-use manner.
1. Click on the Gear & Buffs tab, and select your current gear, enchants, and what temp weapon enchants you will be using.
2. Next, select your race, and whatever buffs you will have for the "buffed" calculations.
3. The "Unbuffed DPS" and "Buffed DPS" will show the in-depth calculations for that gear setup.
4. Additionally, these two sheets will show what the estimated value of agi/crit/hit/ap is for your current gear.
(Note, currently the hit value is *slightly* lower than it actually is due to not calculating slightly higher proc rates at the moment).
5. Repeat steps 1 & 2 for your "Dream Gear" set.
6. The "Current vs. Dream" tab will show how much of a DPS gain you would get if you had your dream gear/buff setup.
FAQ
Q: How do I add new items to the gear drop-down lists?
A: If you happen to be using an item that doesn't show up on the dropdown list, you have to unhide the sheet for that particular slot.
to unhide a sheet, go to Format>Sheet>Unhide? (in Excel), and select the item slot you wish to add the item to.
Then add in the name and stats to one of the blank rows, and it will now show up on the dropdown list.
Q: What do I do about set bonuses?
A: For most set bonuses, we provided checkboxes under the talents section to select these bonuses.
For some of the other sets, the way it's setup is you can select the item from the dropdown to include the set bonus (for instance the Band of Jin w/ Set Bonus).
Q: OMG nerf rogues, if I select the best gear and every single buff I can hit almost 1000 DPS!
A: Yes, 'cause we all know it's possible to have Windfury, Grace of Air, Strength of Earth, Might, Kings, and every other buff on you at the same time! If you really want
To see big numbers, you could keep in mind stuff like the Berserker, Sayge's 10% damage boost, Songflower Serenade, and Bloodlust?!
Q: How do you calculate the 4-piece Bonescythe bonus?
A: We assume that all extra energy from this bonus is utilized for an increased number of backstabs.
Assumptions
1. For now, the spreadsheet is only completely accurate for the combat swords builds with 3/3 Improved SnD.
However, there are variables in that regard which can be adjusted to fit similar specs, but the accuracy may be *slightly* off.
2. The calculations are done assuming a level 63 opponent, as in raid bosses. Weapon skill would have less of an impact on your overall DPS vs. enemies below level 63.
3. We assume your CPs are entirely spent maintaining a 5/5/3 SnD/Evis/SnD cycle.
4. This being all about sustained DPS, we don't look at opening efficiency or anything, it's just the sustained cycle you will hit.
5. The "armor factor" of 0.80 basically is an approximation of the physical mitigation of most raid bosses when they have a 5x stack of Sunder.
FF/CoR would bring the factor closer to 1.
6. We assume you are 100% attacking from behind the whole fight, and thus cannot be parried/blocked.

Changelog
Sword RC 4 - 7/?/2006
Fist and Mace weapon support. Some of the procs aren't modeled yet, and the Misplaced Servo Arm's proc isn't done correctly atm.
The 1% haste enchants will actually work now on all the DPS pages.
Added a rough version of Badge of the Swarmguard, for now just assuming that you average -800 AC over the 30s.
Sword RC 3 - 7/21/2006
Fixed the sword spec calculation from applying dodge/miss penalties twice. It should be a solid model of 1.11 extra attacks now.
Added support for 1.12 talent and eviscerate changes. An option for 1.12 sword spec will be forthcoming.
Added health to the Current vs. Dream comparison sheet.
Incorporated all changes to the dagger sheet up to 1.14, which consisted of the following:
Changed crusader uptime table to instead use a calculated uptime (thanks to Deathwing for the formula); note it doesn't consider HoJ extra attacks but w/ever
Changed Windfury and GoA/SoE to assume they are talented
Added Warblade of the Hakkari as an off-hand option, due to popular request!
Added off-hand Thunderfury as an option for 1.12
Fixed issue with OH weapons w/ procs grabbing proc DPS from the MH weapon
Added Vile and Improved Poisons
Removed Wormhide Boots, since they don't exist
Added new 1.12 talent options as per the "second look"
Fixed Ground Skorpok Assay to only give 25 Agi, and added R.O.I.D.S.
Added a couple other Juju buffs. Juju flurry assumes you use one every minute when the cooldown expires
Added Undead Slaying Set, Larvae of the Great Worm, Jom Gabber trinket, Cloak of the Scourge, Four Horsemen's Bow
Fixed damage range on Keris of Zul'Serak
Added Renataki's Charm of Trickery
Additional haste effects such as Blade Flurry and Kiss of the Spider show up as "Other DPS" now, instead of being in "Finisher DPS"
Updated Veiled Shadows stats to 1.11 amounts
Added 3-piece Veiled Shadows bonus
Added new R8-10 PvP sets
Added 1% haste gloves enchant and 1% haste libram
Renamed "SnD Factor" to "Haste Factor" to be more accurate
Changed Warchief's Blessing to use the new Haste Factor table
Added a simple but functional "haste table" calculation; so we now we can see Blade Flurry DPS
Added Kiss of the Spider (haste is modeled!)
Sword RC 2 - 6/08/2006
Added drop down boxes for talent selections. Improved SnD, Ruthlessness, and Relentless Attacks are planned for a future version.
Added a checkbox for the R14 PVP armor 2-piece bonus.
Added a checkbox for the Bonescythe 8-piece bonus. (Eviscerate has a 5% chance per cp to grant a 100% critical hit chance for your next Backstab, Sinister Strike, or Hemmorrhage.)
Fixed issue with Eviscerate DPS being too high. This may be further tweaked to a much smaller extent.
Extra attack dps has been moved to its own row to fix a couple issues and to better show the added dps.
Updated the extra attack chance formula to better take into account dodges, misses, and proccing off itself.
Sword Spec and HoJ extra attacks now add to main hand enchants/poison and weapon procs.
Chance for an extra attack proccing off of an Eviscerate hit added.
Eviscerate and extra attack hits per second are now included in "Total hits per second".
Fixed issue with Windfury calculations being doubled, as well as not being correctly added to dream equipment.
Windfury extra attacks can now proc off on Sword Spec/HoJ extra attacks but not vice versa. This is still being worked on.
Windfury extra attacks will also add to main hand Fiery and Lifestealing dps.
Fixed multiple issues with the NextStat page calculations. Everything except the increased procs from +1 hit should be accounted for.
The displayed dps value on the Gear & Buffs and Current vs. Dream sheets were slightly off from including +1ap. This has been corrected.
Updated some values incorrectly set to static ones on the Weapon sheet that affect proc dps.
Changed incorrect stats on several items. (Maladath's max damage was 10 too low, Ravenholdt Slicer lacked the AP, and Dal'Rends Tribal Guardian was listed with 4 str.)
Added multiple new Naxx items and the updated Bonescythe stats. The Hungering Cold and The Insatiable Blade were renamed to their new names.
Added support for the Might of Cenarius ring.
